Standardization mandate

The OSH knights of KANelot were not the only ones to have an idea for a standardized helmet for knights: following numerous head injuries in the past, the European Round Table issued a mandate to all knights and ladies of the Standards Table to produce a standard governing helmets for knights.

The European Commission issues standardization mandates to the European standards organizations: CEN, CENELEC and ETSI. One task of these organizations is that of developing standards to support certain EU directives. Once their references have been published in the EU Official Journal, standards developed in response to standardization mandates are "harmonized standards" and give rise to the "presumption of conformity". This means that by applying the standard, the user of it may presume that he or she satisfies the requirements of the EU directives addressed in the standard. For further in-formation on harmonized standards, see also spaces [23] and [34].
