Publication of the standard

The OSH knights and ladies of KANelot can finally put their armour aside and put their feet up. Their work is over – for the time being. Even so, everyone is of course there when the standard is posted on the market square.

Once a standard has passed the final voting stage, it must be adopted unchanged as a national standard by all CEN members. The only possible exceptions are Special National Conditions, by which the individual CEN members are able to draw attention to aspects particular to a certain country, provided certain conditions are met. An A deviation draws attention to national legislation that is not satisfied by the standard. Any country is at liberty to include useful information concerning the status of the standard in the national foreword.

Many national standards organizations do not translate standards into their national languages, but publish them only in one of the three official CEN languages (English, German and French), merely pre-ceding them with a national cover page.
