In the course of revision of the DIN 820 series of standards, Standardization work, DIN has changed the names of its specifications. The term “DIN SPEC” has up to now covered Pre-standards and Technical Reports, in addition to Publicly Available Specifications (PASs) and CEN Workshop Agreements (CWAs).

In future, Technical Reports will be published under the designation DIN/TR (Technical Report), Pre-standards under DIN/TS (Technical Specification). The DIN SPEC designation will be retained only for PASs that are developed at DIN itself. European CWAs adopted by DIN will bear the designation DIN CWA.
