Accessibility declaration

The Commission for Occupational Health and Safety and Standardization (KAN) strives to make its website accessible in accordance with national legislation implementing Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council.

This accessibility declaration is valid as of 1 September 2021 for the www.kan.de website.

We are working on the processes necessary for continual improvement of digital accessibility to the information provided by KAN.

Compliance with the requirements

The accessibility requirements arise from Sections 3 (1) to (4) and 4 of the German BITV 2.0 regulation governing eAccessibility to information technology, which was adopted pursuant to Section 12d of the German Disability Discrimination and General Equal Treatment Act (BGG).

The compliance review is based on an initial internal assessment conducted in January 2019, which was expanded in July 2019 to include the 12 new WCAG 2.1 requirements.

The review showed the website to be only partly compliant with these requirements, owing to the issues described below.

What accessibility issues exist?

Accessibility issues:

  • PDF files uploaded before 23 September 2018. These are denoted "not eAccessible". PDF files on our website that are eAccessible are not explicitly denoted as such.
  • Links to external PDF files are not denoted with respect to their accessibility, as we have no influence over such files.
  • Abbreviations and words in other languages cannot be marked in the calendar of events.
  • Our cookie banner provider is working on continual improvements to the accessibility of its product.

Dispute arbitration

Germany's Federal Government Commissioner for Matters relating to Persons with Disabilities has an arbitration service pursuant to Section 16 of the BGG. The arbitration service has the task of resolving conflicts between persons with disabilities and federal public bodies.

You can call upon the arbitration service if you are dissatisfied with the answers you receive from the above contact facility.
The arbitration procedure is free of charge, and does not require you to have legal representation.

The arbitration service's website provides comprehensive information (in German) on the service. It describes the procedure and how to request arbitration. You can also submit the application in German easy language (LS) or in German sign language.
