Brexit: BSI remains

The British Standards Institute will initially remain a member of CEN and CENELEC following Brexit.

At their respective general meetings, the two organizations agreed upon a transitional arrangement beginning on the date of the UK's withdrawal from the EU and ending on 31 December 2020, irrespective of whether a political agreement between the UK and the EU governing an orderly Brexit is in place.

BSI will retain all the rights and obligations of membership during the transition period. British delegates can therefore continue to work on the Technical Committees, and BSI will retain full voting rights. A decision will be taken in November 2020 on whether BSI will continue to be a member after that time and on adjustment of the CEN/CENELEC statutes should this be required.
