Summary
KAN Report 27, "Standardization relating to occupational health and safety in the field of rail traffic", studies the level of occupational health and safety in European standards, legislation and other regulations for rail transport. Although a comprehensive body of regulations clearly exists, occupational health and safety is still frequently not given due attention. At the same time, requirements for operational safety and the fulfillment of a duty of care towards passengers automatically contribute to a certain level of safety. The report contains recommendations for systematic improvement of the product requirements within rail transport standards.
