Standardization relating to the Pressure Equipment Directive
Contact: Corado Mattiuzzo (mattiuzzo@kan.de)
The statutory basis for European product standardization concerning pressure equipment is Community Directive 97/23/EC, which is based upon Article 95 of the EC Treaty and has been in force since 29 November 1999. The restrictions applicable to this directive have been lifted in full following expiry of the transitional period on 29 May 2002. At European level, 19 Technical Committees in CEN and 9 Technical Committees in ECISS (the European Committee for Iron and Steel Standardization) draw up standards within the area subject to the Pressure Equipment Directive.
