Summary
The report provides a summary of the information event at which KAN (the Commission for OH&S and Standardization) was first presented to the specialist public following its formation in early 1994. The event was attended by some 140 OH&S experts from standards committees, inspection services, national and regional authorities, and employers' and employees' representative bodies. The report provides a summary of the papers delivered and topics discussed at the event. Unanimous support was expressed for the opportunity presented by KAN's focussing of OH&S interests in the Federal Republic of Germany, by which a position may be formulated based upon a sociopolitical consensus, which can therefore in turn be carried through more easily on European standards committees.
